How is the Fair handling COVID-19?
The Plumas Sierra County Fair takes the prevention of spreading COVID19 very seriously. While things look pretty good for a mostly normal event, look for some ways we are working to stop the spread of the virus. The easiest step is one we have been doing for years to fight e-coli; washing our hands. There will be hand washing and hand sanitizing stations throughout the livestock area and the food court. We have tons of hand sanitizer that we want everyone to use so we can get rid of it! Since we are a mostly outdoor event, mask requirements and social distancing will mainly be felt in our exhibit buildings. The truth is, we rarely have had enough people in one building at one time to worry about building capacity, but we will still be aware of it. If 300 people suddenly decide to all go into the quilt building at the same time, we will probably slow that train down. Not to mention being shocked that that many people want to go into the building at the same time! In other words, we know what to look for when it comes to unsafe situations and will do what is necessary to fix the issue. Our bet is that you won't notice. If you are vaccinated, you can move freely about the fairgrounds, inside and out. If you are not vaccinated, you are supposed to wear a mask when you enter a building. There will be no police or security to check you out. We are relying on everyone to show respect for each other; if you should wear a mask, we hope you do. If you see someone who isn't wearing a mask, please believe in their reasons and if you are nervous, keep your distance from them. If you have COVID symptoms; fever, cough, shortness of breath, or can't taste things, please don't come to the Fair. Did we mention that their will be hand sanitizer everywhere?

What has the Carnival done about COVID-19?
The carnival industry has taken a beating over the past year. They realize that the only way they will be able to recover is by making sure their customers know that the Carnival has done everything in it's power to create a safe and sanitary space. To do that, the industry has been on the cutting edge of sanitizing surfaces, line management and distancing. These are all good things. It is still your responsibility to keep a safe distance from others, be aware of what you touch, and keep your hands sanitized throughout your visit. Remember, the virus will come from a visitor just like you, the Tilt-a-Whirl is not the source of the virus. If everyone that rides the Tilt-a-Whirl is responsible, then everyone is safe.
